Modern data loss prevention requires more than content inspection: it demands an understanding of who is moving sensitive data, why they are doing it, and how the exfiltration is occurring. In this hands-on lab, participants will explore how Proofpoint Insider Threat Management (ITM) and Proofpoint Adaptive Email DLP (AEDLP) work together to identify malicious or high-risk user behavior and stop data exfiltration before it results in a security incident. ITM provides deep visibility into user activity, behavioral anomalies, communications, and insider risk indicators to uncover suspicious intent, while Adaptive Email DLP applies AI-powered behavioral analysis, contextual awareness, and intelligent policy enforcement to prevent unauthorized sharing of sensitive information via email. Together, these solutions enable organizations to correlate user behavior with data movement, investigate insider threats, detect malicious exfiltration attempts, and automate the appropriate response through warnings, coaching, blocking, or remediation, delivering a comprehensive, human-centric approach to protecting sensitive data.
Data protection has relied on syntax and rules at the exits, sitting on top of a permission model everyone knows is too loose. It held because the people with access were afraid of getting caught, hesitated before doing something dumb, and couldn't do much damage before someone noticed. Agents inherit the access and none of the restraint. This talk is about what that breaks, from the permission model that becomes genuinely dangerous overnight, to AI putting an exit in every window. Watching context, behavior, and intent as they happen is what the best programs have always done. With agents in the loop, it's what every program has to do.
