In this talk, Tim Allsopp from TELUS will present his approach to the analytics and making the most of your organization's haystack of security control data via the TELUS Security Ecosystem Report. And with it, his view of how analytics can help the front-line practitioner inform and refine cybersecurity activities at their organization, regardless of size or complexity.
Technology and security continue to increase in complexity and scope. The utility of developing a broad set of skills as a security professional pulls learning in one direction, while the need for specialization pulls in another. Time, skills, and resources are often scarce so gaps can and will occur. Devops is an appealing model, but not always functional or realistic, so operational and security silos still occur.
Developing an analytics practice can help clear a path through the forest of challenges that security practitioners face: Enumerating control sets, optimizing their output and efficacy, and navigating the technical and organizational challenges that come with maintaining and using them. In this talk, Tim Allsopp from TELUS will present his approach to the problem via the TELUS Security Ecosystem Report. And with it, his view of how analytics can help the front-line practitioner inform and refine cybersecurity activities at their organization, regardless of size or complexity.
